Far too many people can buy a 300k car without too much trouble. Why is it so difficult to do the same for going off the grid? A car depreciates faster than an avalanche, while off the grid systems pay for themselves. A low interest rate loan specifically designed to assist with going of the grid could boost the number of patriots. Alternatively money could be borrowed against your current home loan (although I personally have a fear for debt and would rather save in a unit trust before taking on the debt on a home).
